Samson & Delilah and intuitive eating..

Do you feel like time speeds up during the holidays? Don't fall into the "I'm too busy to use my senses when I eat", trap! It's a poor excuse, which you know.

If you start feeling the holiday rush, why not use your common sense to stay connected with your body when you're eating?

Here's a guaranteed TIP  that will help you maintain your weight during this holiday season, more than you can imagine! Start now and do it until Jan. 1 2012. The result will amaze you.

Use your sense of taste to control your weight. The strength you're looking for is what you taste when you're eating.

In the story of Samson and Delilah, Sampson is  a very strong warrior who falls in love with Delilah, who is a spy. As long as he has long hair, he stays in control. But she cuts off his hair, removing his strength and he was defeated. When you cut off your sense of taste by ignoring it, you lose control of your eating.

When you choose to taste your food as you chew it, you're intuitively tasting strength. It puts you in control. This includes not eating unless it's the right environment where you can taste your food. This may mean eating less, or just less often.

Wishing you good health and deep satisfaction~
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Eat and drink in the Thankfulness around you.
Come back refreshed.

Plan to de-stress and eat less at holiday parties.

The intuitive  plan to de-stress and eat less this holiday season.

DE-STRESS :
D stands for Defend yourself.

Don't let your emotions rule your body.  Remember, when your cousin is so annoying you want to eat the entire pie, that it's his problem, not yours. People who push your buttons usually don't know it. Defend yourself by realizing that you dance to your own music, and walk away from the annoyance.

E stands for Escape from your old emotional habits.

Instead of expecting annoying comments from in-laws to 'make you' overeat, you can escape this by noticing you're not alone. Everyone deals with personal demons at holiday time.  It's not your fault that your brother-in-law is sour, so no need to punish yourself.  Defend yourself by realizing no one can 'make you' do anything that doesn't feel right. Check in with your body to escape from your emotions.
S stands for make it Simple.

Emotions make everything feel complicated. It's easier to eat smart when you use your senses instead of your mind to to see and hear what's going on. Eating is physical, not emotional or intellectual. Keep it simple by trusting your body and your heart. You will feel protected.

T stands Think long-term.

Talk more, eat less. When tension makes you feel like shutting down and stuffing yourself, take a 10 minute stroll away from the food. Think about how you will feel about yourself in the morning if you stuff yourself tonight.  Intuition is always tuned into the big picture. Your life is Big; emotional eating is small.

R is a reminder to Relax and not react.

Stress makes us shut down and tighten up which interferes with efficient digestion. If you can't relax, slow down the eating by taking 3 deep breaths in and 3 deep breaths out between bites. This is the intuitive way to connect with and relax your body. Remember emotional reactions usually relate to the past. Stay in the present because, right now, you're creating your future.

E stands for Enjoy.

Eating for pleasure is intuitive. To get pleasure you must taste your food. When you enjoy what you eat your body digests it better and you get more nourishment from it. This means it will keep you full longer. Don't eat unless you're sure you're really enjoying every mouthful.

S stand for Share the pleasure.

Sit with someone you don't know  who you like. Talk about how delicious the food tastes. Share the pleasure of the holiday meal instead of focusing on the emotions. The point of  holidays is to celebrate life. Stay clear that you know you're lucky to have food when others are starving. Feeling grateful and sharing is intuitive.

S stands for Satisfy yourself.

This is your life. Today will never come again. Satisfy your need for self-respect by listening to your body to help stay away from emotional eating. Satisfy your need for comfort by enjoying and really tasting the holiday meal. Satisfy your need for love by treating yourself with dignity.

Cheat?!!

I heard about a diet that encourages you to 'cheat' to lose weight!?!?  BAD IDEA. Everyone knows cheating makes you feel bad about yourself.  Only someone truly out of touch with her intuition would see cheating as a solution. It's the opposite of trusting yourself!

C stands for confused.
H stands for hurting yourself.
E stands for everyone.
A stands for angry.
T stands for trouble.
When you ignore your intuition, you are out of sync with yourself and feel stressed. Cheating causes stress.  When you're stressed you get angry easily and everyone around you knows it. Cheat when you eat spells long term trouble. Don't be confused by the promise of a 'quick fix'. There is no such thing. 95% of people who diet gain back more weight than they lose! Cheat and you cheat yourself. Ouch.

Eating intuitively keeps you clear about your meal choices and helps you achieve and maintain a healthy body. When you're in sync with your intuition, you feel like you have more energy because you're in tune with your body and your values. You create your future when you feel clear about who you are and what matters.
C stands for clarity.
R stands for remember values.
E stands for everyone.
A stands for automatic
T stands for total body mind heart in sync.
E stands for evolution.

Trusting your body and using intuition is staying aware of who you are and what makes sense for your needs physically, emotionally and socially. Intuitive eating creates clarity that feels like balance or well-being. Balance diffuses stress and keeps long term priorities in view. Intuitive eating is creating what makes sense for your happiness and long term quality of life.
Don't buy into media hype and lies. You know what makes sense. That's why you're reading this.  Be good to yourself. Treat yourself with dignity and respect your body. Use your intuitive tools to keep clear about eating choices. It becomes automatic. You won't be stressed, and everyone will know it.

Pick up or download a copy of Am I Really Hungry? to see easy ways to protect yourself from cheating or being cheated when it comes to what matters in your life! An attitude of dignity will help you help yourself. Life is too good to cheat yourself - ever!

Are You Trapped by Diet Dogma?

It's time to stop being a prisoner of diet dogma.

Steve Jobs whose vision impacted everyone said,

"Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become."

Diet programs are what someone else thinks you should eat. While the idea of eating healthy and balanced makes complete sense, eating a certain # of calories a day because someone tells you to is a disconnect from your physical reality.

Intuitive eating is being tuned into yourself physically and emotionally. It's not rigid because your life is full of the unexpected and unlikely.

Life is not all neat and tidy. It's bold and unpredictable. You can take control of your eating by using your intuition to stay in touch with your body.

Eating intuitively is always a direct response to your physical needs. When you've had an exhausting day, you may not feel hungry- so don't eat. Your body may prefer the nourishment of sleep. Learn to recognize intuitive cues from your body and trust your private intuitive voice.

It's good to learn about what's healthy but your body responds to food in a completely unique way from everything else! This means, what fills me up may not satisfy you, or what your friend eats may cause bloat in your stomach.

Intuitive eating is a relaxed flexible attitude that's tuned into your body's needs.
Dieting doesn't work long term. 95% of people who diet gain back more weight than they lost. Why keep doing something that makes you feel badly about yourself and doesn't work?

Be bold. Think like Steve Jobs and get results you want!
Trade diet stress for personal satisfaction with Am I Really Hungry?  You'll never look back.

Time to be liberated!

Am I Really Hungry reinvents dieting!!!!

Has any of this ever happened to you?

Diet makes you feel deprived..
You feel resentful..
You see what you want, but "can't" have..
A stressful day at work..
Frustration makes you feel bottled up..
The man or woman who you have been seeing for the past 3 months, turns out to be a lying, cheating cad..
The children need you - 24/7..
Bills piling up, but you keep buying..
You really need to talk and your cel phone just fell in a puddle..
The diet isn't working..
Life isn't predictable or fair.
You're not alone. Every day, when buttons are pushed, dieter's punish themselves with confused, self-destructive food choices.

Confusion causes self-doubt that comes out as bad decisions.

Intuitive eating keeps you in sync with yourself.

It's never intuitive to be self-destructive. If you know when you're really hungry and what you're hungry for, your 6th sense is absolutely clear about what you need.
When you know how to tune into your body around eating, there's less confusion.
When you learn how to use intuitive tools clear decision making becomes automatic because you know what really matters.
Even kids can do it.

Intuitive eating diffuses your diet hot buttons.

Recognizing what you notice with your senses can make you aware of opportunities in your life in many ways:

- help you lose weight because you are tuning into your body
- cure loneliness because you are connecting with your emotions
- improve business environment because your priorities and values are in perspective

Eating intuitively keeps you clear about your personal boundaries and about protecting yourself in all areas of your life.

Take advantage of what's easy to do. Open your eyes and follow your gut.

When food or diet hit you emotionally, use your intuition to stay in control or your choices.

Instead of feeling manipulated, you will feel liberated.

Food Addiction is Real.

Nobody chooses to be fat.

Have you ever thought you might be addicted to ice cream or to chips? It's possible. Many processed foods are laced with chemicals that make us feel we must eat more than makes common sense.

No one ever binges on apples and they are full of natural sugars.
No one ever binges on celery and it's full of valuable salts.
The reason why people don't binge on these is because when we eat them we can tell when we're full.
The difference between an addiction and a craving is knowing when to stop

Obesity is not a choice. It is a result of not having choices.

In processed meals there are often chemically created sugars, fats and salts that trigger cravings and addiction. These work by confusing your brain so that it ignores messages from your body.

That's why you may feel unable to resist them. The chemicals are messing with your mind and that is bad for your body. That's how cookies, chips, ice cream or soda become an addiction.

You are not alone.

People who cannot get fresh fruits and vegetable where they live are often victim of the chemical trap. If this is you, there are solutions.
Talk about it with friends, neighbors and family. You will discover that you are not alone. Nobody wants to be fat, nobody wants to be unhealthy.

Be willing to try something new to escape the trap of processed meals.
You can order certain healthy snacks in bulk that won't be expensive and divide them between families.

Examples:
Shelled nuts provide abundant healthy protein and can be purchased online in bulk.
Dried fruit that has no additives is full of nutrition and a healthy snack. If you eat dried fruit you must drink more water. The reason why is because fresh fruit is mostly water, so when it's dried it's concentrated.

Enlist your teenagers.

Talk to your kids about chemicals in their food that are controlling their appetites.

Kids don't like the way they feel or look when they're overweight or obese. Let them know that you are going to work together to protect each other.

Teenagers are brilliant on computers. Give your teenagers the job of surfing the web to find out new affordable eating alternatives that make sense for the whole family. Tell them to be creative and trust their intuition to figure out how to help all of you.

Tell them you will eat what they find.
Let them know what they're doing important for all of you!

Every kid who has the time to surf the web, play games, or do e-mails has the skills to find food alternatives for your family. Teenagers, especially, are known for thinking outside of the box. Give them the freedom to take control of dinner 3 nights a week.

Talk to them with respect about the fact that you all need to take control of what enters your bodies because right now, you're all victims of food addiction.
This is about creating the future and they know it.
You can be bold together to beat the chemical trap.

Yale's Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity "Food Addiction" Scale

If you identify with any of these you may be addicted to chemicals in your meals.

1. I eat much more than I had planned.
2. Not getting certain types of meals is something I worry about.
3. I keep trying to diet but am unsuccessful.
4. After I eat, I feel sluggish.
5. I have become more socially isolated because of my weight.
6. Even though I know certain snacks are 'bad' for my health, I still eat them.
7. I need increasing amounts to be satisfied.

Be curious. Use your intuition to protect yourself from food addiction.
Am I Really Hungry? gives tools the whole family can use to learn to eat intuitively.Read the book and escape the trap of food addiction.
